What is CODE IN THE DARK?

Code in the Dark is a programming "competition" in the intersection of front-end knowledge, smoke machines and intense heart-beating music. Contestants try to recreate an image with only HTML and CSS without previewing it, before the public decides who wins.

    If you don't want to participate you are more than welcome to just hang out, cheer and vote for your favorite! It's just as much fun to watch as it is to compete!

    All you need to know

    There will be food and beverages served during the evening.

    When you come to Södergatan 3, call "Mpya Finance" on the intercom and we'll let you in!

    Schedule:

    • 18:00 - Doors open
    • 18:30-ish - First heat
    • 20:00-ish - Finals
    • 23:00 - Doors close

    If you are competing:

    • Read the rules below
    • Bring your computer
    • Let us know if you need any adapter for USB-C or HDMI

    The Rules

    • Previews are prohibited until the heat is over.
    • Contestants can not use any frameworks, snippets, iframes or other assets except those listed in the instructions. All code should be written during the heat.
    • Contestants must use the custom Code in the Dark editor. You can try it here.
    • The editor must be in full screen mode during the entire competition.
    • Measuring tools or other external assistants are forbidden.
    • The winner will be decided by audience vote.
